This is the only review I've found to be spot on. The rest seen to be people pleasing because they got early releases. This felt honest. And I totally agree with you.

oh how disappointing. i’m actually about to start we used to live here because i was kinda curious about this one 🫣 we’ll see how that one goes and then i’ll go from there lol. hope your next read is much better!

I agree. This disappointed me so much. What the hell was the point of this? No resolution at the end nor answers to character’s background. Pointless read and slack.
I agree with you and my review matches this. I just don’t love it at all. I loved the beginning but then it just lost me and dragged on too long. I wasn’t excited to pick it back up after I put it down which is never a good sign. Just meh for me.
@Besi - the author seems to like open endings, but I could not stand the way this book went in circles. I didn’t like the characters either lol
@Christine - I think the premise tricked me into thinking this would be more entertaining than it was. I’m surprised I even finished it tbh 😭

Kliewer has never provided answers in any of his books or his reddit short fiction. I have no idea why A) people suddenly expect him to and B) why they only realize it now
Oh lord. "Why the hell is this even happening in the first place" was my biggest problem with We Used To Live Here. That and walking away with too many unanswered questions.
The author must have thought her ending was clever. It was not clever at all. It was poorly written.
@Perry - the author can do whatever he wants, doesn’t mean I’m gonna like it & if I don’t.. ima say that. its called HAVING AN OPINION, since you seem to be unaware of the concept
@Chi-chi - open ended stories are harder to get right, but it worked better for me in WUTLH than it did with this book 😅

It was SO BORING! Thank you, I was so dissapointed by this book. The end was fun but short lived and also the other novel didn't tie into it as much as I would have liked.
@K - almost put me to sleep 🥱 i didn’t even know they were supposed to connect? i just expected more I think lol
Ugh this book was a clusterfuck of a headache. And boring. Macy was bleak. Poor representation of mental health issues.

Fully agree! I keep thinking “omg her brain is exhausting!” and “holy crap they could not have given this job to a worse person”. I alternated between being bored and being so frustrated.
Completely agree with you! And we never find out who the hell people calling her are or where they are . Ugh I hate being left with so many questions
I didn’t understand much about this book and the ending sucked. I’m not big on open-ended books, movies, tv shows, etc. and this book was is no exception. I found myself going back over parts of it time and time again, trying to figure out what the heck was going on. The book was a whole lot of busy that went nowhere.
@Lyndsey - i know, it was all so random but done in the sloppiest way. I was over it by that point so I didn’t even care 😂
@Mcgoo4 - i don’t love open ended media either, but sometimes they can get away with it if the rest of the story has enough going for it. here, it felt like talking in circles with no point in sight 😒
I love open-ended endings if there’s a story beforehand. I didn’t find one here….
