Hello and welcome to the group. I live in California and love to read just about every genre out there. I usually have two books going at the same time... one an ebook and the other an audiobook. I belong to a few other groups because they are just the best way to discover a great series, new author, or just a great book, and make new friends. I usually read 2 - 3 historical fiction books per month. I volunteered to moderate this group because I enjoy books in a variety of time periods and eras that offered a different sub-genres such as espionage, mysteries, and thrillers not limited to romance oriented ones.

I enjoy challenges as it offers to expand my reading horizons, and hope to set one up for the new year soon. I hope you'll join me in the sharing of great historical fiction books.

Hi, I’m Belinda, from the USA, upper Midwest.

I actually haven’t read much historical fiction lately, although I do love the genre.
For a while, I was devouring books by Phillipa Gregory. I loved her novels on the Tudor women.
I also have enjoyed Ken Follett’s books, especially the Kingsbridge trilogy that begins with PILLARS OF THE EARTH. I have not read the third book, though, yet!

I am currently reading GROWING THINGS, a collection of short stories by Paul Tremblay (not historical fiction).
I’ve been reading books about The Beatles, as well, because I live them and reading about them brings me comfort and joy.

The most recent non fiction history book I read was THE INDIFFERENT STARS ABOVE, earlier this year. I highly recommend it. A mesmerizing account that is both respectful to the members of the Donner party travelers, but honest and forthright.

Hi, I'm John from Montreal, Canada.
Historical fiction is my favorite genre, but I read almost anything (excepting self self books or biography/autobiography of people still alive).
My favorite historical fiction is The Jewess of Toledo by Leon Feuchtwanger, and Tyll by Daniel Kehlmann, a close second.
My more recent read from this genre was The Plot Against America by Philip Roth, more like an alternative history.

I have always loved history but am new to reading historical fiction (my studies also leave me with limited time to read unfortunately), so I'd love to make some friends and exchange recs.

I am interested in 16th/17th century British/French history especially--My current favorite is the Wolf Hall trilogy by Hilary Mantel, but I'm also interested in more contemporary settings.

I'm Annie from the UK, academic history researcher and avid historic literature lover, whether that means its a classic or contemporary fiction about a previous time period.

I am an author and retired educator from Michigan. I am new to Goodreads. My first novel is scheduled for publication in June by Histria Books. It is about my ancestors' participation in the Tuscarora Wars of 1710- 1715. I loved doing the research, visiting the places, and meeting knowledgeable people. I even participated in an archaeological dig on the North Carolina Outer Banks. When done well, HF can bring history to life by introducing fascinating and impactful characters, while immersing readers in time periods and cultures they know little about.

Ahoy! My name is Pamela Grimm and I am in New York state. Maritime fiction and history have been my go-to genres since I started reading as a young person. I always have at least 3 books going at any given time, almost exclusively on Kindle since I can pick up reading any time anywhere on my phone. Decided a few years ago to give writing a go, and am the author of the Destiny series with Captain Jane Thorn. Set in the 1820s, which is such an interesting time period. Lots of change across the board, including social structures and technology. Planning to finish book 3 in the series this year and wanting to spend time chatting with fellow reading enthusiasts in the meantime! So re-reading Destiny's Gold, my first book, to put myself back in Jane's world.

Hello and well met. My name is Sigrid and I love historical fiction \ time slip dramas that focus on hard historical facts and have a good plot about them. Even my favourite movies revolve around the medieval world. I also seem to focus on the 14th century for some unbeknownst reason I cannot really explain.

I am currently immersed in the Siege of Hennebont that occured in 1342, but I won't bore you with all the details here. Besides that, I am a bit of a recluse. I live in an infamous house in my state and keep to myself playing my Celtic harp and enjoying my life.

There's a paperback, ebook and an audiobook I actually narrated. Much fun as I used about 12 different voices/dialects in the recording.

The novel's only 154 pages in the paperback and it's said to be a breezy read. Not your typical military book at all. Immediate post-Vietnam U.S. Army experience between 1975-1984, and it encompasses a good deal of family issues as well as pure day-to-day military experiences. Elicits a full range of emotions.
