_biancasbookclub Hi Lemons World, I don’t think it’s fair for you to rate a book if you didn’t even finish it. If you had actually read the book and then rated it, I would say FE. But honestly it’s just plain rude. A heads up, I reported your review to Goodreads. As book reviewers we need honesty and integrity in this industry.

Lemonworld Thanks for the heads up. Sounds like this one really landed for you — that’s lovely, I mean it. I read more than half, before putting it down. DNF reviews are allowed on Goodreads though, and I flagged exactly why I stopped. Honesty and integrity cut both ways: a review that says “I couldn’t finish, here’s why” is just my opinion.

_biancasbookclub I understand that but the fact that you did not finish the book and then rated it isn’t fair. We are all entitled to our opinions and you are of course welcome to leave a review but rating a book can affect it’s overall writing especially if you did not finish it. Put yourself in the shoes of an Indie author who is trying to make a name for themselves. :)

Tim Suatan Geez, Lemonworld, I was wondering what the fuss was about with this particular review lols. And I'm not here to talk about opinions at all. However, it sounds like we both agree on something: "facts are important", right? So let's talk facts only.

1. The mid-century Breguet Empire Chronometer watch exists, and its legendary Peseux 260 movement was produced for observatory chronometer trials. That means it is a historically defensible designation to call the Empire a Chronometer watch, even before COSC's chronometer certification was established. As one of those "watch guys", I'd be horrified if my novel contains inaccuracies about a luxury watch. :P

2. Maria Callas & Musetta. The character in my novel simply said "I loved Maria Callas’s rendition of ‘Musetta’s Waltz’", and no claim was ever made that Callas sang that song as part of a full opera (I know she didn't). However, she certainly did sing it and have it recorded, as can be heard in a 1963 live in Paris on her own youtube channel.
