From Heart Patient to Heart Dad, The Story I never Expected to Write > Likes and Comments

I never planned on becoming an author.
I was born with a congenital heart defect and had heart surgery as a baby. More than 30 years later, I found myself on the other side of the hospital bed watching my newborn son Jaxon face open-heart surgery at just 6 days old.
Going from patient to caregiver changed everything.
I started writing because I wanted to remember what our family had been through. Somewhere along the way, it became something bigger.
Jaxon’s Journey: A Story of Fear, Faith, Family, and Hope became my first book and a way to raise awareness for congenital heart disease, recognize the healthcare workers who carried our family through some of our hardest days, give back to organizations that helped us, and hopefully remind another family that they aren’t alone.
It also brought me back to my faith after nearly 20 years away from church.
I’m still learning what it means to be an author and how to keep a story growing after publication, but I’m incredibly grateful for where this journey has already taken us.

Jaxon’s Journey : A STORY OF FEAR, FAITH, FAMILY, AND HOPE

My first reason for writing was my family, especially my children. I wanted to leave something behind for them—something that would allow them to know my story, my faith, the lessons I learned, and the things that shaped me.

But as I began writing, I realised it was not only for my family. I wanted my story to reach other people too—to encourage someone going through a difficult season and remind them that their past or circumstances do not have to define their future.

From the bottom of my heart, I truly believe that every life has a story worth telling, and sometimes what we have lived through can become encouragement for someone else.

That is why I wrote Everyone Has a Story.
