Great little vintage story
I just re-read this also!!! Loved it!!
Janette, it's an old story, but it still holds up as a very good story all these years later... and the movie was good too
Have you seen the tv mini series with Bette Davis?
Simon, it took a while to locate, but I was able to buy a copy I believe from Amazon. I also saw it when it was a mini series on TV. It is very good and follows the book pretty closely. Bette Davis was great as the widow!

I am looking forward to rereading this. I was a little kid when my Dad let me stay up way past my bedtime to watch the movie. To this day I can still see the ending. 😜💚

This sounds so good! I like to read horror books around Halloween and will add this to my list.
It is very good, Tree, but it's not all blood and gore like most of the stories currently out. It's a slow burn ritualistic story with the goddess Demeter (although she is not expressly mentioned in the book) as a backdrop giving a reason for the season. Hope you enjoy it! 🎃
