Call for New Moderators > Likes and Comments

Sandra and I will be stepping down as Moderators at the end of the year. We will have both been doing this for the past five years and feel that it is time to move on.
We will need two people to step up. While being a moderator is not a lot of work, it is good to someone else bounce ideas off. In addition Sandra and I usually split the tasks on a monthly basis so that we each get time off. You do not need to have any experience as a Moderator elsewhere and there are no special requirements; just someone who is active in the group and loves Historical Romance!!
Sandra and I will support the incoming Moderators for the first few months before stepping out from January 1st 2027.
This is a lovely group of people – we are hoping that two of you will step in to continue to support the group.

It is coming up to the time of year when Sandra and I plan for 2027. To date no-one has come forward to take over our roles.

Next month we will organise for the voting for December 2026 BOTMs, and make sure discussion posts are created for all BOTMS until the end of the year. Thereafter we will be happily retired! We have had fun :)

Hi Lavinia, the moderation doesn't take much time, and if you are invested in the group readings and chats, it will be even less. You only have to do tasks a few days per month, and that can take one hour or so, less in some tasks, more in others, but rarely. Unfortunately, at this time, I and Susan, only came here to do the tasks; our readings are a bit behind :(

Sandra and Susan, what computer skills are needed to be a moderator? It took me forever to learn how to paste and copy on my old iPad, I don't think I could handle the job if it's too complicated

Hi, Lauren, From the user's perspective, it only requires skills. Even knowledge of Excel and Google Forms is very basic.

I'm really sad if someone doesn't step up. I've been away from the group, books and even from the computer, I've been ill since last December, but now I hope to come back, slowly, step by step! ;) Even so, I think it's time someone else take the lead and have the fun, me and Susan had! :)

I am not very technical. The only difficult part is the setting up of voting...but I have managed. If there is more than one of you, the work is easy. If you are still interested, contact me on my email susan@sbramley.com.au
