I always have an audio book in my car, so sometimes it takes a while to get through the story, but I love audio books. I hope your vision issue ends soon and you can resume reading books again. At least on the e-reader you can enlarge the font to make reading easier. Good luck!

I use a Kindle, and don't tap the ereader. Instead, I swipe from side to side and I don't find it distracting. If yours allows this, give it a try.
Hi Diane - I use a Kobo Touch - so I can be a slider or a tapper or even just a toucher. And enlarging the font is a great bonus for me at the moment.
Hi Terence. I, too, have vision issues at the moment. Well, I should say that I have chronic vision issues, but at the moment I am 10 days post-surgery and my vision is particularly crappy. My iPad is a godsend in the circumstances. Good luck with your vision problem.
I am sorry to hear that we both have vision problems, Alan. They can be a pain in the bum for avid readers. About 80% of my 'book reading' is via audio books and 20% via my e-reader. I devour my one broadsheet news paper from cover to cover each day with the help of a magnifying glass. My 'real books' stare down and up and across at me all around the house, untouched for the time being, but not unloved! Good luck to you too!
Interesting review Terence. Did you ever see the movie The Imitation Game about Alan Turing’s contribution to cracking the enigma code? It was really well done, fascinating and not too dry.

Thank you, Kevin!
Yes, indeed there are plenty of books that need revisiting, but each time I contemplate doing that, I look at the ever-growing (I really am an optimist!) list of recently purchased audiobooks yet to be heard!

I have "Alan Turing: Enigma", the book upon which "The Imitation Game" was based, in my "Currently Reading" list, Pat, but I am yet to see the film. I will do so after listening to the book.
You bring up so many good points. And, you had similar issues to me, but it was still a compelling read. Wonderful review, Terry. 😊

Thanks, Karen. As always, I appreciate your comments!🤩
It's always a treat when we enjoy a book on the second reading years later, Terry. Unfortunately, as I’ve experienced with Tolkien & Faulkner…that’s not always the case

Thank you, David - I agree. Sometimes I wonder how I could have been so generous, other times I up a rating because it seems a bit mean - although, mostly I leave them as they were. :))
Perhaps because these extremely clever people appeared boring made it easier for them to keep under the radar no pun intended 🤔

You might be right about that, Alma. They certainly kept their secrets very secret - they were literally fighting for their country - the downside - failure- was unimaginable!
Terence...I agree with Sir Kevin that many books deserve a revisit. This is one of those to be reinterpreted by one's older and wiser self. Glad it held up to your scrutiny! Excellent review!🥰

Many thanks, Dame Fran - Sir Kevin is, as usual, quite correct😉! And this book was well worth the re-review, to me at least, because of a long-held interest in the intrigues and the machinations involving Bletchley Park.
I'm sure that I too read this when it came out, Terence, but now you have tempted me to read it again. I agree with everything you say. I do enjoy Robert Harris's books.

Thank you, P.R., Robert Harris is a favourite of mine - he always seem to deserve 4-Stars or 5-Stars from me! "Conclave" and "An Officer and a Spy" were great 5-Stars listens for me! I have a few I haven't tackled yet, including the "Cicero" series, and I just bought "Agrippa", which has been highly recommended.
I wish I had more time... and motivation... but, I'm still here, thank Odin! And I'm pretty healthy for an 'Oldie'!

Very glad to hear it, Terence! We don't want you going anywhere.
I've just bought 'Imperium' so it sounds as if we will both be visiting the ancients, and let's hope they will be enjoyable!
