i own this book & am interested in bhatt's og medium thesis on the transmisogyny of the utilization of the "third gender" label when discussing transfeminine people but admittedly have really struggled to respect a lot of the ideas in the book from my few interactions with it... was thinking of giving it another read but then she started a podcast with a detrans grifter (?!) so now i'm back at square one LOL. we'll see if i manage another attempt; i want her to be my next andrea long chu but aughghghghgh

Why does GR not tell me when ppl comment? This is so frustrating. I found this by total accident. Let me know what Andrea Long Chu I should be reading. I did not know about detrans grifter podcast, but I will let whatever was writ in this book stand on its own. As far as I'm concerned, this book has earned its own sentience. I highly recommend you trying to get back into it.
Calling Emma Zakharuk a detrans grifter would be incorrect. While she has reversed a lot of her transition, one of her main arguments has been for increased access to transition resources because someone who wants to reverse a transition needs the same exact healthcare as to enact a transition and the gatekeeping prevents from figuring out who they are and want to be, no matter what flavour of trans or cis. She sometimes calls herself "detrans" as a tongue-in-cheek jab at that political movement but is definitely not a grifter.
