Katie Lumsden A place to discuss what you're reading for Katie's challenge: Read a Victorian work by a Scottish, Welsh or Irish author.

Rebecca Uncle Silas

Theresa I am reading The Picture of Dorian Gray.

message 4: by Carla (new)

Carla I plan to start an Anthony Trollope book in October.

message 5: by Britta (new)

Britta Böhler I ordered Charlotte Riddell, A Struggle for Fame, but if it doesn't arrive on time, I will go with Le Fanu's, Carmilla.

Kathy I'll be reading The Picture of Dorian Gray, too. I read it at least 50 years ago and remember zilch, so it will be like a new book.

Tali Nash Hello from Argentina! I'll be reading "Treasure Island" by Robert Louis Stevenson. I'll be reading it in Spanish. It's my first time reading something by this Scottish author.

message 8: by Lucy (new)

Lucy Either The Warden by Anthony Trollope or the group read, Uncle Silas, will take care of this one for me

message 9: by Patricia (new)

Patricia Taylor I'm reading The Wrong Box by Robert Louis Stevenson. Although it's a re-read for me, it's been quite a few years since I read it and I remember pretty much nothing other than finding it delightful.

Is that the one he wrote with his step-son?

Patricia Taylor Yes, it is. Interestingly, I hadn't noted that. Thanks for commenting.

I've read that it's very good and glad to hear you've enjoyed it in the past--I need to find a copy or download from Project Gutenberg.

Rebecca Switching to Phantastes for this one. Loving my reread of it.

Alice Ambrose Just started “The Jewel of the Seven Stars” by Bram Stoker. So far it’s a fun locked room mystery but I think—based on some suspicious cat activity—that it’s about to take a supernatural turn.
