My favorite opener for a review!
Great review, Nikki!
It was an interesting read, but wasn’t an inaccurate story for some gay men.
I think that in some parts I focused too much on the advocacy part of my brain and forgot to remind myself that I was reading a thriller.
Josh Silver is a nurse who’s in recovery and works in mental health, so he knew how to write it.
Thanks for mentioning the podcast interview..I want to listen to it!
Matt, very accurate for women and men both actually. Drugs take people to very dark places. I can’t wait to listen to the podcast too!!!! Brian does a great job! I wonder if he’ll end up quitting his nursing job.
Matt, and it turned into a really moving story and I actually LOVED Mallory lol. She was hilarious 🤣
Nikki, I agree!
I liked Mallory (hated her asshole husband) and I just wanted to give Leo a big hug because I felt like he hadn’t one in a long time.
Her mom ended up being interesting too towards the end!
I listened to the podcast interview tonight and it was really good.
I feel like I just left a meeting.
Nikki, I listened to the one where Brian Reads (who looks very yummy in his picture) interviewed the author.
The podcaster is also gay and sober, so that was a big focus in the interview.
I need to check out more of his episodes because he sounded like someone that I’d have a lot in common with.
I’m starting this tomorrow!! I was hesitant at first (I have 16 months clean from the main characters DOC) but the reviews are too good to pass this one up
6 books & 8 days later I’m still thinking about Fruit Fly. Also screaming, crying, dancing bc you’re one of the 5 book reviewers I whole heartedly trust!!!!
Taylor, you just made my day!!! Probably because we share something deeply rooted in us that personally connected us to the story. It spoke to us and I love that!
