I personally didn't think anything of the blurb at the end. I feel like the whole vibe of the author is kind of this apathetic and cool, dark, and chill thing. I feel like if I was an author I'd probably write something like that in the end because honestly why am I going to put myself out there if my readers hate my stuff. It's just common sense that if people like the series, the author will likely keep going. But if people crap all over the book he's basically saying, well I guess I'll change direction. I mean, these authors are throwing their whole heart and soul at us - the public - and hoping we treat them with kindness so it's a very vulnerable thing. I don't really agree with tainting the whole positive review with a negative light just because you (in my opinion) read way too much into that ending comment.
And just to finish that thought: believe in yourself through and through. You are a talented writer and this first look of what you have in your toolbox was very convincing. I just know from years and years (another industry, another world, another time) of being in a position where I had to push things into the market, that you have to push beyond the self-doubt and tell everyone "This is what you want, this is what you NEED!" Can't wait to see what comes out of the lab!!!

I’m absolutely writing a sequel, for the record. I’m actually starting on it this fall. And I’m thinking it’ll most likely end up being a trilogy (with the chance for a prequel at some point—maybe detailing the early years when Ed and Isaac were partners).
You’re spot on with what you said, though. I shouldn’t have worded it that way. Thanks for reading and reviewing!
