Nancy Kress The Queen's Witch (The Tudor Witches Book 1) by Nancy Kress I have returned to Goodreads after a very long absence (complicated story) and am pleased to announce my forthcoming new book, THE QUEEN'S WITCH, a historical fantasy coming from 47 North on November 1. This book marks my return to fantasy, which is where I began my novel career 45 years ago. Why, you ask? Well, even if you didn't, I'm going to answer. Since I was 15 years old, Anne Boleyn has always fascinated me. This is her story told from the viewpoint of a hedge witch (the Tudor term was :cunning woman") who reluctantly becomes attached to Anne's court. She and Anne need each other to succeed in their very different goals, even though neither is happy with the situation. Set against the turbulent changes in Henry VIII's England, this is a book I have always wanted to write, and now I have. If you read it, I would love to know what you think. Available on Amazon

Nancy Kress I am working busily on the sequel to THE QUEEN'S WITCH. Meanwhile, for those of you with both an Amazon Prime account and a Kindle, THE QUEEN'S WITCH is a free First Reads pick for October. Go to the Amazon page for the book and find a box that says First Reads. I would post the URL but apparently that is not allowed.

Nancy Kress I have been reading, for the second time, Kate Atkinson's wonderful LIFE AFTER LIFE. This is speculative fiction, although it is not marketed as such. It is a book that repays rereading, a WWII story set in England that not only entertains but also raises all sorts of interesting questions about how lives are lived.

Nancy Kress I am now on SubStack, with both news and articles about writing, gleaned from 50 years of writing and publishing. Since Goodreads will not let me post the URL, if you are on Substack and want to read my column, you will need to search for it under my name.
