Couldn’t agree more!
Ya i am feeling the same the book is so over the place and incoherent
1st book was so good
This one Mendax went from touch her and u die to get naked and let them see u, so out of character.
Their is just so much inconsistency about the story and writing.
Agree! 50 percent in and I’m confused. The choppy writing. If this was the first book I would have DNF by now.
The writing was so different from the first book! I even had to report missing words and spelling mistakes. It almost felt rushed? Also, characters said things that just didn't fit the dialougue of the conversation.
YES!!! The twist ending of book one had me soooo excited for this one. And my excitement died within the first 10 pages. The constant flip between past and present really messes with my head, and I cannot stand how many spelling and grammar errors there were in this book. I can understand one or two, but GOD after 50% done it felt like every other page had missing or doubles words the “the the” etc. struggling to finish this one. So sad. Also anyone else feel like it has major similarities to ACOTAR with certain aspects of the story line?
Literally just wrote a similar review and then came to check to make sure I wasn’t the only one taken off guard by the chaotic writing. Like I almost wish I could have been an editor for this before it came out to help point out the mistakes
Came on here to see what other people’s thoughts were because I’m finding it a struggle to finish. I’m 63% of the way through and I’m seriously debating DNF’ing it.
You absolutely summed it up entirely. Was this book written by AI? Atrocious. Wish I could give less than 1 star.
I think my final straw was when she completely changed a character name. First it was Edin and then it became Eden and never went back to the first spelling. How does that even get published!? That’s not grammar that’s just ridiculous!!
I agree 100% with all of this. A lot of flip flop between “pick me, choose me” and changing her mind every 5 seconds on who she loves, just felt childish to me and wasn’t great
Thank you for putting this into words omg this is exactly what my experience was like as well. Just finished and and I literally had to force it so I can’t move onto ACOTAR
100% agree. I just finished and I honestly have no idea what I read.. the amount of rereading I had to do because I had no idea what was happening, and why characters opinions changed every 5 seconds..
I feel like it had the potential to be something but the author doesn’t have the talent to pull it off
Sadly I have to agree! I had some high expectations after book 1 but this was exhausting. The writing was definitely not great and I found a mistakes that should have been picked up during editing. I quickly got bored of the love triangle (or was it a square) and felt like screaming ffs just pick one. There was so much new information introduced too quickly I had to go back and check what I’d read and now to leave it open ended for a third book…. I’m with you, I don’t know if I’ll bother.
This is exactly what I am thinking and could not explain it better. This book was difficult to read. Towards the end I figured might as well just finish it. I really enjoyed the first. I will cancel my pre-order of the third.
Oh no.. thank you for your review. I‘ll wait until book three is out to see if it will be poli/why chose to decide if I would start the series. Not a fan of this trope at all.
I basically just wrote this exact review word for word. The weird love triangle plus 1 had me lose my grip on who I thought I was supposed to be rooting for.
This is 100% how I felt. I couldn’t keep up with the FMC’s thoughts and emotions. One minute she’d say she didn’t want Eli and then she’d say she loved him and was kissing him. I had to look it up to see if it was a why choose. I really feel like book 3 is going to be a why choose. I don’t think I’ll be picking up the next one.
I’m only 60% in and I’m glad it’s not just me. Sometimes I had to go back a page because I felt like I missed a paragraph due to the abrupt change. I also felt like that about who knows what info. “How does he know my real name??” Didn’t we just establish Mendez has been following you for weeks?? How would he not??
I feel like the first book did so well that the second book was rushed, going to read the third but wasn’t as excited for it after the second
I don't know why after the 1st book I read this one because I felt the same way at the end. Lied to.
Agreed! I actually laughed out loud when Zef’s letter said ‘a.k.a your father’ — such bad writing. No “king of the gods” would ever talk like that.
Did this end up being a why choose? I’m 25% into book 2 and don’t want to carry on if it is just not my vibe at the moment!
Your review confirms everything I'm starting to feel right now. I'm at the beginning and it is starting to have that weird love triangle vibes. Not the why choose vibes, because why choose or reverse harem are *always* well developed and not emotionally messy. Everything is so confusing right now. The first one was also confusing in the way it was written but it was entertaining. But now, just feels like it's going to get worse and worse. And now you mention walter too??? like serious??? pretty sure I'll DNF at this point
So glad I'm not alone because I am hella confused I'm 71% in and I'm like did this just become a why choose?!
OH MY GOODNESS YES!!!! I'm so glad I'm not the only one! I really don't remember book 1 being so messy and the whole Walter thing really irritated me..
OMG THANK YOU!!!!! Throne scene traumatized me. Also whiplash is so accurate! Caly is the worst FMC I’ve ever had to endure
This is the review I needed. Like. Pick a lane. Why choose? I’m here for it, good guy, bad guy, rando, cool. But for the love of my imagination pick one and stick to it.
