2 of the 3 are very general. I assume that the more specific prompts canceled each other out. Feel free to note any favorites for next year!Mods will work on setting up the order of the prompts and the discussion threads.
I down voted the two general ones. There were several really interesting ones in this list, but here we are. Someone mentioned assembling a science/social issues etc reject list that I might try to do next year… using it to select books and try to slot those into the 52 list since I don’t tend to read all 52 as it is.
Thank you to the mods. It feels like you put an enormous amount of time and energy running this group and the selection process.
Aaaaannd that's a wrap!Last couple of weeks felt like the process was dragging, now it feels as though it flew by :)
Thank you to the Mods for all your hard work again, and the regulars who chat and are so informative and entertaining :)
Looking forward to the Order of the Prompts and to seeing what reject challenges are set up :)
Looking forward to the Rivals/Feud Listopia as that is NOT my thing at all. I’m hoping there is a book that counts that is not a romance or political drama.
Random Acts of Kindness Week 2027 runs from Sunday, February 14, through Saturday, February 20, 2027. It's the perfect week for A book that is selected randomly.
I'm so happy with rivals/feud, I didn't vote for it then had immediate regret when I realised it's a perfect fit for Victorious, which is my highest priority read for next year :)

I will put that together soon, now that the whole process is finished. Keep an eye on Wild Discussion, where I'll post when the list is up - or check in periodically with Outside Challenges, where the list will be posted.

Yes to all of this! Thanks so much, Mods, and also everyone in this group who comes up with great prompt suggestions and fun conversation.

I was quite sure it was you! I’ve already gone through the reject list and there’s a bunch of good ones in there.
The one that’s in the outside challenges from this year’s rejects is also a good one.
Tracy wrote: "Looking forward to the Rivals/Feud Listopia as that is NOT my thing at all. I’m hoping there is a book that counts that is not a romance or political drama."Well, there is Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell, Romeo and Juliet (much less a romance than a feud story, really), this list https://www.bookbub.com/blog/historic... and this one https://www.tckpublishing.com/12-book..., to start with. I'll probably read Burr since my son, who is majoring in American political history, recently recommended it to me.
Although I didn't vote for any of these, I didn't reject any either. I was close to rejecting the prompt regarding a random selection, which I viewed as a "free space" since it was simply a "read what you want" prompt.
Woohoo! Well done everyone, the 2027 list is well rounded and there’s something for everyone.I wish that “bacteria, viruses and fungi” had made it, but I can always read one as a prompt that didn’t make it or as my “ology” pick.
Oh, this must mean that my vote came in too late since I didn't vote until earlier today! Would it have changed anything? We won't know, will we. I did vote for two of those but I would have been more excited if any of Afterlife, Medical aspect or Hobby got in. I want to thank everyone for making this fantastic event happen every year. This is my favourite group on GR and I love this creative space in the ATY52-group.
I'll miss you all until next year but it will be nice to relax a bit as well.
Love to all of you! 💜💜💜
Thank you to the mods! And to everyone's creative suggestions. Looking forward to all the great books we will read and share next year.

I will look at my Goodreads TBR at the beginning of the year, sort it by Random, and take the top book, so there will be only one possibility. Another option would be, if you have books on a physical shelf, use a random number generator and pick the book that is that number along on the shelf.
Thank you to the mods for all your work!

It's a prompt I found really satisfying last time we did it, and still remember exactly where I was when the random choice happened :)
I found the discussion from last time really interesting, how people chose to make it random (or not): https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/.... I'm looking forward to seeing how everyone approaches it again.
Thank you to the Mods for their time and hard work, and to everyone who contributed ideas and voted.
I’m glad that rivalry/feud made it! I’m working on reading the James Clavell Asian Saga series (Shogun) which seems to be a good fit. I’m curious what others will come up with. Thanks mods and members for your time and effort in the list creation process!
Good job, everyone!I might read something about the Wars of the Roses for rivalry/feud. Though that might be stretching the definition of "feud."
John wrote: "Although I didn't vote for any of these, I didn't reject any either. I was close to rejecting the prompt regarding a random selection, which I viewed as a "free space" since it was simply a "read w..."It's actually a great one for me, because I have books that have been on my TBR list for years because they never fit any of our prompts (or, not having read them, I don't know that they do). I'll make a list of those and choose one randomly from that list.
Tracy wrote: "Looking forward to the Rivals/Feud Listopia as that is NOT my thing at all. I’m hoping there is a book that counts that is not a romance or political drama."My first thought is the Hatfields and McCoys in Appalachia US. Or sibling rivalry. Or gang/mafia rivalry. I don't have any specific books in mind for any of those, but it shouldn't be too hard to search for.
I was hoping we'd have another round, but I'm also glad it's over so I can begin planning... with books I likely won't actually read! ;DMods, I don't know how you do it, but THANK YOU!!!!
Jennifer W wrote: “ I'm also glad it's over so I can begin planning... with books I likely won't actually read! "I thought it was just me!
I’d like to plan it all NOW but I know by now that the plans won’t stick come January. I’ll probably manage to refrain my planning for a week before I cave a d start looking at new books.
Happy with these results so a great way to end the polls for another year! 2027 will be my 12th year of ATY and I still love participating in the voting each year and seeing the list come together.Thank you mods as always! 🫶

Tracy wrote: "Looking forward to the Rivals/Feud Listopia as that is NOT my thing at all. I’m hoping there is a book that counts that is not a romance or political drama."I read this one earlier this year, and it is excellent.
A Beautiful Rival: A Novel of Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden
So glad my rivalry/feud suggestion made it in. Thanks to all who voted for it.This list is a good starting point.

Also I put links to a couple of lists in Msg 14 above.
But yes, we still do need a Listopia created for that one.

Same to you, Nike! It was great to see you and other familiar faces here again this year. Looking forward to a great reading year in 2027.

I want to figure out a way to use the random prompt to select a book for one of the rejected prompts.
My eye’s aren’t working together yet, but the world is so much much brighter and clearer out of my right eye now.
Will be happy to see the final list so I can figure out what I'm missing, as I only seem to have 51.
NancyJ wrote: "My eyes aren’t working together yet, but the world is so much much brighter and clearer out of my right eye now..."That is wonderful news! You've come such a long way and I'm sure you have much more improvement to look forward to. 🩷
Vicki wrote: "Will be happy to see the final list so I can figure out what I'm missing, as I only seem to have 51."Did you include the ones chosen by the two raffle winners?
NancyJ wrote: "I want to figure out a way to use the random prompt to select a book for one of the rejected prompts..."I'm a great fan, as the raffle drawings can attest, of random.org. The reject prompts will be numbered.
I'm planning to RNG and pick a book from my TBR list.
*** APPLAUSE **** Yay, ATY Community!!Great job as ever. I'm going in knowing I might hate some prompts, but those are the ones I end up really liking!
I have a major fundraiser tomorrow night, but when I've recovered next week, can't wait to see the list in full! Unless I catch a chill and die, wearing a Medusa costume out on a cold night!
Tracy wrote: "Looking forward to the Rivals/Feud Listopia as that is NOT my thing at all. I’m hoping there is a book that counts that is not a romance or political drama."I can add several to the Listopia when it is setup. I don't read romances either, and rarely political drama, but I have read a number of good books that feature rivalries. (medical, mathematical, archeological, academic are a few of the topics that come to mind).

We can set our own parameters for the random prompt, right? I’m thinking I might pick 10 books, and use a random number generator to pick the one l’ll read.
The 10 might be from my library holds list, or 10 books I’ve owned for more than a year. Or I might start with 5 books that fit a certain topic that interests me the most at the time, or that fit a certain tag.

A book including a rivalry or feud
A book that is selected randomly
A second book for your favorite prompt
This means the 2027 list is complete!!
