message 16: by Swakanthyaa (new)

Swakanthyaa Should I leave John's group??

message 17: by JM (new)

JM Reines I'm not going to tell you to leave or join any group. I'm not that type person. You do what you feel comfortable with.

message 18: by JM (new)

JM Reines It has been over 100 here for weeks and it's finally cooled down some. It was depressing how hot it was.

Yes! It was honestly super hot in my house. I had to water the plants every single day

message 21: by JM (new)

JM Reines It was like living in an oven

Sassy Sedusa it’s a comfortable 66 degrees here.
slightly warm with a breeze.

Yeah I felt that way as well. My A.C. was broken for a long time and honestly It felt like I was sitting in a heated oven so I really understand how you feel. After it was fixed, I feel like a snowman now.

Shari-amor It's just also cooled in my area this week. And the rain didn't make it humid as usual. It was miserable most of this summer. High 90s F and a few days being over 100. I love when it rains in the Fall.

message 27: by Sassy Sedusa (new)

Sassy Sedusa i have a question.
to those who have came out to their families and friends, how did you face their reaction?

i’m bisexual but also lean towards pansexual
i came out to friends years ago, and my siblings… maybe two years?
i’m ready to tell my mom, tho i feel like she may know something.
can you give me some advice on how to tell her.
i want to do it before this year ends and go into the next year feeling one step closer to live a bit freely.

message 28: by Shari-amor (new)

Shari-amor I honestly only had to come out to my dad. It just came up really casually in conversations with my mom, sisters, and friends.

Its been years but i think my dad had asked me about my dating life when i happened to be in a relationship with a woman back in my 20s. I answered honestly. Maybe invite her out to dinner and bring it up in conversation. Had a friend have discussion with his dad on the Moonlight movie when it first was released and thats how he came out.

I never had an official coming out to family but my little sister asked if I was queer and I affirmed. There isn't a manuel but however it happens just be strong in the fact you're sharing a piece of yourself with someone and however they receive it is on them.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic Swakanthyaa wrote: "Should I leave John's group??"

I am sticking around til I get my folders copied lol I put in a lot of work and they can un-mod me but I'm taking everything with me!

Unapologetic_Bookaholic God-damn oven is right! Felt like I was cooking..inside my house. Having my AC break at that time was a test of willpower bc I sure wanted to buy a portable AC. I was able to get by with 2 fans.

JM Reines My sister pulled me aside one day and asked if I was a porn star. I told her yep. She was cool with it. I think my brother-in-law was more cool with it. Apparently they saw one of my movies.

Pretty much all of my family knows and have no problem with it, but I know every family is not the same. All I can tell you is to live for yourself. Be happy and be yourself. If someone loves you, it shouldn't matter.

Haha I am not lol but thank you. My ADHD just can't process information

message 40: by Sassy Sedusa (new)

Sassy Sedusa thank you for sharing and helping me.
sometimes family can be a little judgmental and it can be hard to express yourself the way you want.
i used to get criticized and judge for wearing all black and listening to heavy metal music.
they say that it was devil stuff and that i was bringing in negativity. ain’t that ironic lol.
as the years went by they came to accept it.

i think it was last year that my brother had told that my dad wouldn’t have cared if i had liked girls as long as I was happy. that i would always be his baby girl (my brother and father had talked about that privately)
i wish i had told him before he died. (passed in 2018)
i was so scared and nervous.

i feel like if i told my mom she’ll probably feel the same way.
only one way to know.

message 41: by JM (new)

JM Reines I learned a long time ago that I had to live for myself. You can't please everyone, and if you try you end up unhappy. You have to be the judge, but you should know there will be people that will accept you. If they love you, they will love you no matter what.

message 42: by Sassy Sedusa (new)

Sassy Sedusa i know about the people pleasing.
i spend so long trying to keep everyone happy that sometimes i forget i am a person who i need to make happy too
thank you so much! i feel better and a little more confident in telling my mom.

It's not selfish to make sure that you have what you need to be happy and healthy. It's self-care. If you have to stop speaking with certain people, then do it.

JM Reines I think we have a good little active group here. I'm glad to see everyone interacting and having fun. Please invite other like-minded people to join. I want to see it grow, especially with more authors. I want this to be a safe space for everyone to discuss, debate, and play.
