Easy to read but it didn't add up to much. The "mystery" was deep but not particularly interesting. Well, I could see why it was to Maisie but not to me.
Maisie's backsory was made it somewhat worthwhile but not a lot. I've read better stories of nurses experiencing war (such as The Women by Kristen Hannah). And the romance was extremely superficial.
Billy Beale's character was a bit ridiculous. She needed someone to be a spy and he volunteered despite having no training.
So many things about this story were amateurish. As I understand, this was her first novel. Sorry but it shows.
