Vasso Eleftheriou Dear Olivia (Moderator) and Dear All of this Group,

This is a crucial message for everyone in this group.

I am writing to formally report that I have received a chain of emails from individual claiming they found my book, Aphrodite, engaging and favorable for inclusion in your "September Reading Challenge." In a deceptive and refined manner, they requested a fee of $200 from me in order to be included in this challenge.

As a lawyer, I cannot remain silent. I am reporting this manipulative scammer in an effort to save other authors, as these actors try to manipulate the dreams of every writer.

This is a serious violation of all authors’ rights and the principles and values of this community.

I have preserved all emails and can provide them if anyone wishes to investigate further to stop this harassment and manipulation, and to protect all members of this group.

Please, everyone, be very careful. Do not pay any fees for reading challenges or promotions.

Thank you for your help in keeping this group safe.
Sincerely, Vaso Eleftheriou

Cristy Sabin I actually had someone message me as well refferencing this group. But they haven't asked for money so I don't know if they are legitimate or not. It's how I found this group in the first place.

clem ❄️🍜 {fotze4life} (suck my ass mariah) Thanks girl

In the second email, they would have asked you for $200 for "promotional preparation and featuring activities".

Caleb Crowe I'm not a hot girl, but I AM a hot author, and I can confirm someone messaged me today pretending to be Olivia and wanting to charge me to promote my books in this group. I get about ten scammer emails a day though. Earlier this morning someone emailed me claiming to be Colleen Hoover. Nice that someone as busy and successful as Colleen has the time to take an interest in my career...

♡°~*BonneVivante*~°♡ Let Goodreads know as well. Thanks for the heads-up.

message 10: by Blaze (new)

Blaze Martel Sadly, as an author I get at least two emails a week from people either impersonating actual GoodReads readers, complete with a link to a real person's profile, or pretending to represent a GR group.

Perhaps they should read my books where the theme is about having the courage to be yourself.

Marella✨ Redek Thxs so much for the heads up!

message 12: by Rai (new)

Rai Guidewell Also not a Hot Girl, but a curious author. Is there an expressed policy from Goodreads forbidding groups like HGRB from charging fees for promotions or spotlights?

message 13: by Loretta (new)

Loretta Marion For the moderator. I received an email through my author website from someone claiming to be Olivia Crosby as moderator of this group and offering to include my newest book release in the group's Six-Month challenge. Since I've been bombarded with scam emails since launching, I was suspicious. So I did some research, joined this group so I could comment and report the issue. I did not respond to the email so I don't have any information regarding a request for fees. I can provide the email address if you are interested. Thank you.
