Thank you for reading and reviewing this for us. I think this is too bleak for me. I was going to sayI find my reading an escape from reality but realised that’s a big fat lie as I’m about to write a review on a book called “ Heal your Trauma” . I think I work with people with trauma daily and I wonder if reading a fiction book about trauma can be helpful us process trauma and also to understand others who have experienced trauma. For some this post apocalyptic world is here now and that is scary.

I thought about it and for me, the ambiguousness was the main part of the horror and yeah, it was bleak. All of that suffering for nothing. The girl suffered the worst because she knew even less than the older women around her. I really felt for her growing into her teenage years with unanswered questions, only unresponsive adults who refused to talk about her impending adulthood. And on it went through her entire life - The not knowing until she aged into acceptance in old age. Even if it didn't satisfy my curiosity, it was natural and human.

Hi Caroline! I can completely understand your stance on this one. This book conveys such an ominous feeling of freedoms being removed, and although one might think it completely farcical, the more and more things change, data centers and such...one might have to wonder if these scary premises we read in books are actually completely fictional! Great review, my friend! 😊 I listened to this one with my wife, and we had some really interesting conversations about it afterwards. Definitely one of those books that stays with you long after you've finished it!
