William’s review of HATE: Why We Should Resist it With Free Speech, Not Censorship (Inalienable Rights) > Likes and Comments

I totally agree with the indispensability of free speech, but I also appreciate the frustration many feel about the apparent inability or unwillingness of many to differentiate truth from fiction.
Timothy Snyder had some interesting things to say about "free speech" on Dahlia Lithwick's show -- the sadly almost-optimistic "Great Big Pre-election Freedom and Democracy Show." He's not a fan of the term, at all.

Yeah it's a very hard problem to solve.

Very interesting, will have to check that out. Thank you.
Another excellent review. I think I am the only one in the neighborhood that still gets our local paper and watches "mainstream" news. I am appalled at how few people watch a real news station. No wonder we can be so easily misled.

I just read today that the Pew Research Center said that 20% of Americans get their news from social media influencers !
X is the most widely accessed platform followed by Instagram & YouTube. Even if these were good places to get the news, they are only snippets of a story with little context much less having the ability to do a deep dive into issues.
Another excellent review, love the ideas you describe in the book and from your own statements. Absolutely essential for a progressive society.
