It's such a shame that Klein's output was so small. His story "Petey" is one of the creepiest things I've ever read. I need to give The Ceremonies a reread.
Adrienne, I haven't read Petey, so I'll have to look into that one. Even though THE CEREMONIES was written in the 70s, and it dates itself in places, I still love that book 😊
I’ve had this novel for years and still haven’t read it, but I love Dark Gods. THE BEST HORROR NOVEL EVER!? That is very exciting. Going to have to get to this promptly.
Jakob, THE CEREMONIES is an expanded version of THE EVENTS ON POROTH FARM, which I believe is one of the stories in DARK GODS. I like the expanded version better. It is a great summer read because the story takes place mostly on a farm where the protagonist has gone for the summer to do his research. I can't think of another horror novel I'd like to have with me if stranded on a deserted island, lol

Yes! I have said for years this is the best horror novel I have ever read. It's a shame that it isn't more widely known. Outside of serious horror devotees, most potential readers have never even heard of it.
Yes, Sean, this is a classic, IMO. Anyone who likes horror and hasn't yet read this story is in for a real treat! 😊

This review gave me chills - the slow-burn dread and mythic horror sound incredible. I’m sold on tracking down a copy, even if it’s not on Kindle yet!
