Thanks for the comprehensive answer. Have A1 and smashwords similar content restrictions?

I think virtually all the publishers claim to have such restrictions, although there may be some specialist ones. I have no experience of A1 or Smashwords, but of the publishers I do use, Amazon has the widest selection of books and gives good service.
