You might try Cory Doctorow at craphound.com . He seems knowledgeable about many different publication avenues
My friend Laurel Hightower is a fairly new author in her 30s. She recently came out with her second novel in the Horror Genre and is the daughter of Lynn Hightower, who has written many books and currently writes and teaches writing. Laurel advises joining twitter and getting into some of the writing/publishing circles. She says you will find lots of good information and be able to get to know who is who in the current world of publishing. From there you can gain enough knowledge of how best to move forward with the type of project you have. She also recommends following related podcasts. For instance as a horror author she has done many podcast interviews in support of her novels.
I'm a dozen years and as many books from beginning, but what helped me is the advice from many people in the website http://AbsoluteWrite.com. It has several forums covering the several aspects of being a writer and a professional.
