Unfortunately, I wasn't in any of his classes, but he was a major influence on me with his incredible knowledge of Kabuki, the French language, theater...and most of all, his outstanding, positive demeanor. I believe it was impossible to attend his lectures without feeling lifted up. Years later, when my husband and I were living in Pasadena, I insisted we attend one of Prof. Pronko's lectures on Kabuki. My Tokyoite husband was astonished at his expertise.
