for me its a chore. writing was never my strong suit so i have to be inspired to write really well. writing on demand - never! that's why i get so frustrated with the revise/resubmit process. its soooo overwhelming! lol. but i do what i can. i do my best. and that's all i ever require of myself. and things always have a way of falling into place!
It seems to me writing from the heart, even - especially - in science, is essential. Yeah, the peer review process is less than fun, and can be derailed rather easily. Our own weaknesses turn a good idea into a mockery at times....
