Kind of like getting a bird’s eye view and compartmentalise?
I'd actually describe it as the opposite of "compartmentalizing" our experiences. It's a way of being more honest about them and embracing the whole picture, whereas to "compartmentalize" something is, arguably, to distort the experience by dividing it from the wider context.
