Sharon Great detail on your experiences with Hospice. I did a social work internship at the Ct Hospice in Branford CT in the 1990s. Such a powerful experience. This was the first free standing Hospice in the U.S., founded in part by Yale physicians.
Little did i know that my sister with die with Home Hospice and that both my parents would transition at CT Hospice. Palliative care makes such a difference!

Stephen Kiernan My condolences to you, Sharon. I'm sorry for your losses, and hope the involvement of hospice made the process as good as it could be.
When I was researching my nonfiction book on this topic, I spent time in Branford and had important educational experiences. That was the first place, for example, where I saw the four questions exercise used (to great relief for the patient).
Bravo for you for doing an internship there.

Anna I so loved this book! As a retired RN, having worked as a home care nurse, then at our local free standing hospice, I was so impressed with your respectful and sensitive characterization of the home care nurse in the novel. Thank you for that. My mother was able to die peacefully at home in 1979, when palliative care was still taking baby steps in Canada, I’ve always been grateful for that. I’ve enjoyed all your books and am looking forward to more.

Stephen Kiernan Thank you Anna, for your kind words about my book, but more so for your time working in hospice. The work of the angels.
