Of course I would love to have your recommendations Bruno. It's a very kind offer. Finding time to read them though is difficult at the moment. I am writing a sequel to Shamus Dust and together with that and the necessary research my free reading time is practically non-existent. But for the day I retire I would love to have a few on historical themes on my tbr list.
No worries. Whenever you can catch time is fine :-). I'm gonna look through my old messages, as there is a friend from Spain Whom I've sent the full list a few months ago. Unfortunatelly, a lot of our Works have been translated to English yet, so there are a few of them for which I'm so sad for not Being able to suggest you to read them.

As for my favorite authors (the list of favorite works are already listed, which you can check out), Ernest Hemingway, Fyodor Dostoyevsky, Euripides and William Shakespeare hold a special place for me, while Francoise Sagan, William Paul Young, Conn Iggulden and Giles Kristian are worth mentioning among the newer generations. When it comes to my region, August Senoa, Marija Juric Zagorka, Miroslav Krleza and Ivo Andric are leading figures for me. I've kept in mind that each of them has a few works that I've already read, while I'm still deciding where would I put Leo Tolstoy, Gabriel Garcia Marquez and Paulo Coelho. The rest are mostly one or two works by author, so I cannot decide for them just yet.
