Very extensive answer.. My ship concept is similar, though I tried not to get too scientific in explaining everything. My target audience was my nieces and nephews. So I had to keep it simple enough to keep their attention.
Almost halfway through your book now! One of the ways we differ is that my book is aimed at an older demographic (there's kissing!). The protagonists are teenagers so attraction to the opposite sex is pretty foremost in their minds! Also, my characters have absolutely no superpowers - just their own intelligence, a good scientific education, and a really good database to look things up it!
