Oh, this was very insightful! I am not a writer and I am always in awe of the worlds some very gifted people are able to build just from their minds and words. Reading your response I think 'I write what I like because I like it, since people can and will interpret it any old way they want.' is the best attitude to have in order to be able to hone your own voice/style as an author. If I may, I would add that I am glad for you for reaching this conclusion!
