Amy Rhilinger We had so much fun! And kids really enjoyed the variety of elements in the story. They had a lot of ideas on what "should have" happened to the doll. The boys in particular thought being eaten by an alligator would have been awesome. There was some concern that perhaps you had a bad experience with a toy. They loved the time travel and thought it added a lot to the story. I will send you a picture of the group.

Kimberley Little This is so much fun to hear, Amy, thank you for sharing the club's experience with FIREFLIES! The boy's alligator conclusion made me chuckle. Nope, no bad experiences with a toy when I was a child. Just a kid who read voraciously and had a big imagination. With FIREFLIES I took a lot of things I love, like time travel, dolls, islands, the mysterious swamp, fireflies, etc. and turned it all into a story. I did have a traumatic experience when I was 11 and I took a fall at my house that gashed my leg badly. I had to get 60 stitches and lived with a horrible scar for many years. In fact, I got lots of scars so maybe that was inspirational, too. :-)

Amy Rhilinger The kids are SO happy that you've responded to their comments! I used to do middle school book clubs for work, but now I spend a lot of time in an office. It was so fun to read your book with the kids and to hear their enthusiastic responses to it. Really looking forward to the other books set in LA!

Kimberley Little I officially *LIKE* all of this! :-)
