Not only is it wonderful tip to feminism and breaking gender roles, there are also very few books that I have come across that are from the view point of a female doctor (that is a historical fiction). Being a female doctor myself, it has been nice to find similarities between Nora's thought process with patients as well as finding what prior women had to battle (and are still battling) today in where credentials are held with respect, but there are still stigmas against women holding them.
