Julieann Jennifer...this is your cousin Julie Friedman Kennedy..I stumbled on this post. It is Sol you are referring to? He was my great uncle. My grandfather was his brother. The irony of it all is my best friend is the granddaughter of Dorothea Lange. I spent my pre-teens years visiting the cabin that her family had at Stinson Beach. It was full of her photographs. My friend, her granddaughter, inherited all of her equipment and became a cinematographer. She wrote and filmed "Catch a Hunk of Lightening"..was on PBS and may still be. The other irony is when she was in the first class at UCSC she kept telling me about her new friend in the co-ed dorms (unheard of for UCs or any college at the time). When I went to visit we knocked on the door of her new friend and it was non-other than Stephen Greenberg. So, in a sense, Sol had a connection to that Bohemian World. He and Dorothea's granddaughter were together at my wedding at the Claremont Hotel in 1970.
