That's fascinating. I didn't realize the western monarch was near-extinct. I guess planting milkweed is something people can do to protect these beautiful butterflies.
There used to be 4.5 million. In 2020, less than 2000 monrach butterflies were counted. The numbers have thankfully come up since then but are still down over 95%.
