Cassie Hawkings Hi Rick! I'm a film school graduate, and you are absolutely correct about the producer title, especially the EP. I know more about film than I do television, but from my understanding, EPs in film is more of an "honourary title" whereas in television there an EP has a lot of sway over production. Toni Collette spoke about the difference in an interview she did a few years back for a movie she did (I cannot remember the name of it). She had been an EP on a few things, but it wasn't until the movie she did where she was a producer. Miranda Cosgrove said the same thing when she signed for the iCarly reboot as an EP. She wanted as much creative control as she could get as it was her character who was the lead.

Sometimes, people's names are attached as EPs and they have no role in production whatsoever. Think James Packer on a lot of the films produced by RatPac back in the day.
