Thank you for sharing Joseph...interesting point of research. Something to consider anyway.
.
Growing up, the next door neighbors on one side were devoutly Catholic, while the other side were just as devoted in their Mormonism. Point being, there was no shortage of boys in my peer group. And, needless to say, I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth! *winks*
I must have been about sixteen when I told one of the neighbor boys I'd been messing around with for years that I was gay. His response, "We can't fuck around anymore." I asked for an explanation, but never got one that I fully understood. Best I could gather, he was okay with us having gay sex (like all the sorts of gay sex there is) - so long as we were both straight. However, him having sex with a gay dude...well, that was simply out of the question. (He stuck to his guns for all of two weeks, LOL!) Years later he'd marry and have children - as did the vast majority of the straight guys I played with back then.
Yeah, all these years later, I still find same sex sex, when one partner isn't gay, simply fascinating.
Thank you for sharing Joseph that is one way to put it into perspective. How do many of us begin to experience sexual relations when we are young, than with those we are close to (thus, the article, right). Where our feelings and desires go from there....we never know.
In the end, loving, respecting and accepting yourself is the most important.
I hope you begin to find your books, your words and your openness create much needed dialog with others, our society really needs it!
You are so refreshing I think I may have to begin following your blog just to continue reading your thoughts. ;)
