How amazing that love hasn't changed across the centuries, Sharon. You couldn't say that about anything else...
I think it could equally apply to other emotions and feelings, Marilyn... hatred, jealousy, anger, infatuation, obsession, and others... These are a part of the human condition, and not necessarily linked to the social, economic or political climate in which the characters live.
