Sarah Campbell I think people don't read enough. Everyone compares every book to Sarah J Mass. I mean look at how many books now have the word "Court" in them? It's crazy.

Sarah Campbell Totally agree, Kayla. Hunting for survival isn’t a trope invented by any modern author—it’s a timeless, practical skill rooted in real history. From Artemis to Boudica, women have always hunted, fought, and survived. A female protagonist who hunts isn’t unoriginal—it’s realistic. It’s the context, character, and purpose behind that skill that makes each story unique. Write what makes sense for your world—authenticity will always outshine surface-level criticism.

Lisa I know a lot of women who hunt. And they don’t waste any part of the deer meat. Seems sad but if you lived here and had to dodge the deer who overpopulate , you would want to hunt too

Margaret Smith That's so true. Why does everyone compare TOG to every book? I mean, I know it's the standard in fantasy but it's like these teen girls have never read another book or attended a history class in their life. And Hunger Games came out way before TOG, so technically everyone could say Sarah J Mass stole the idea from her. Hunting was real. Getting punished for hunting on a king or nobles property was also very real. People were killed for stealing bread back then.
