Annie i know many authors, (J.K. Rowling) who have changed their names. I also have friends who changed their names. It took a while to get used to, but I respected their choice.

One friend changed from Peggy to Margaret because it made her feel grown-up. My daughter refused to call her by that name for years, but she finally got used to it. My older sister started using her middle name, Manon. The primary reason I changed mine was because my mother was often angry with me and would use my full name to yell at me. I still didn't change it though until after she passed away. I use Annie as my name now primarily because I had a kind foster father who called me that.

I also admire women like, Annie Oakley and Annie Kenney (a millworker who stood up to oppression of women and was thrown in jail for speaking out.)

One of the other reasons is because some people used to call me Annette Funicello. I didn't ever see the appeal in her.

That's all for now folks.

As you can see, I'm on the side of people who choose to change their name for whatever reason, but I also understand why it makes some people uncomfortable to accept name changes.
