Ker Gibbs Laurel, you bring helpful facts, and I can tell that you have a reasoned opinion. But please... read Windup Girl. It won't give you facts that counter your view, but it may open up a different perspective to think about the issue. That's the role, ultimately, of fiction, and I think this author does a great job with WG. I've read the same studies that you allude to that show no harmful effects, but which study can we look to that will show us GMO's impact on earth 1,000 years from now? Or don't we care about that? Not everything is a science based argument. With GMO I believe we are playing with forces we do not understand. Science can only tell us what the outcomes are likely to be based on what we know now. Do we know everything? Laurel, you're not wrong about the people starving. But if we humans are smart enough to figure out how to modify genes then we should be smart enough to find another way to solve these problems.

Donna Church A key issue with GMO crops is also their impact on indigenous crops. Also, if those with terminator genes cross-pollinate with regular seeds, after a while the maker has a monopoly on a specific product. Food production is always a complex issue with a variety of nuances.
