A box of old photos... A treasure trove of memories... I love that with old photos, which are essentially other people's memories caught on camera, when you look at them you get to share a part of their memories and by looking at them, make them your own. What a wonderful thing your grandfather left for you. :o)
My nan, great nan, great granddad, great aunt and uncle all lived in the same house as I was growing up. My great grandfather was called 'Pop' which I borrowed for the book. I used to hear so many wartime stories and particularly remember those about how everyone mucked in with the Normandy evacuation from not just Dunkirk, but all around the southeast coast in particular. It was my great-nan who would always ask me for an orange whenever I asked her what she wanted for Christmas as I was growing up. I didn't really understand why at the time, but soon came to realise how special such simple things, which I took for granted, meant to someone growing up through the war years.

My grandfather has left me a big box of photos from the war, he was 20 years old when he joined up to the RAF. He brought me up with stories of the Nazis and the trials of war time life, which I think is partly why I connected so much with your book.
I am started the next one now, so excited.Glad to hear that all your readers are supporting you, that means you have created a community. I love that idea, no one seems to read any more.Good luck in your writing, Sophie
