Please pay attention to Ms. Gilbert! I was like her 40 years ago, but between my desire to please my parents and romantic entanglements (ahem), I found myself putting aside the work of my life to please others. So only now, at the age of 57, am I back at pouring my heart and soul into writing. The good thing is that I have life experience to put into my work. The bad thing is that I've skipped 40 years of practice. Ms. Gilbert is so right!
