I did, too. Ms. Yolen, have you looked into alternative ways of getting another Foiled book published? Have you approached Dark Horse, perhaps? Or Coffee Table Comics? They've published other comics I've read. Or perhaps a kickstarter, where your fans could help you get another published? Surely there are other avenues besides First Second publishing. We'd love to read more of Aliera's story!
Problem is--paying (getting) the illustrator who is off on more books for the publisher. Also hiring an editor/art director. Hiring a marketing person. Writing it is not the problem. I have many other projects I am working on and becoming a publisher is not in the cards for this 77 year old.
So sorry to hear that! My kids and I greatly enjoyed the first two as well and have been anxious awaiting a third installment. Shucks!
