Candace I can't stress enough how important the sequel is to The Sparrow. It will explain many things that happened in the first book. Well, "explained" meaning "give greater insight." Enough said without spoilers. :)

Mary Russell As I often say, Everything you think you know at the end of The Sparrow is wrong.

Eliezer Weinbach Thanks for the prompt answer! Of course the homily for Alan is underlined in my book (one of many such passages.) I have also already read Children of God , and I'm in love with that book as well! I do believe that you made a case for religion as a whole - or at least one that agreed with me. Sofia was a huge success. The whole She'he'cheyanu bit, and the [spoilers] Shema / Hashem stuff in the sequel (just to name a few), were really well done. I look forward to sharing this with my friends! Thanks!

Mosca Personally, I've always held that The Sparrow and The Children of God are best understood as Part 1 and Part 2 of the same book as opposed to the sequel relationship usually concocted by some marketing strategy.

What I mean is that the two books are so integrally linked that The Sparrow is not fully understood without The Children of God.

Both books together are superb.

Thank you, Mary Doria Russell
