Books Thanks for the answer! The question has been eating at my brain. In the book I like Moriko, but it seems I have the habit of being wary of her. Though Ryuu doesn't always like the path of the Nightblade he doesn't reject it like Moriko does; and it leads me to bouts of frustration. Moriko is an interesting character, is their any possibility you could explain her personality to me?

Ryan Kirk Sure, I can certainly say a little. If I'm not getting quite at what you're looking for, please let me know. In my mind, one of Moriko's defining characteristics is her upbringing in the monastery Perseverance. She has seen the abuse of power firsthand, which causes her to be wary of the path of nightblades. While Ryuu was raised to believe that his power could be used for good, Moriko didn't have a similar upbringing. She doesn't really care much about others, as no one except Ryuu has ever fought for her. Her attitude was reinforced in Azaria, when she learned she would do anything in her power to survive. She cares for Ryuu, but as we head into the third book, she cares more about surviving and escaping the imminent invasion.

Again, I hope this helps. I'm happy to talk about anything more specifically if you like!

Thanks,

Ryan
