the editing and proofreading process takes around a week for a short story and about three weeks for a novel. The editing happens in three-four stages and is followed by fine polishing. I also make my own covers and that is definitely an integral and special part of the process for me.

How many round of edits do you do? I edit my own manuscripts and I usually do 3-5. I can finish a 200 page story in about a month, possibly two depending how rough it is.
