Sandra...thank you for sharing this inspiring story of where the seeds of "This Is Not A Werewolf Story" were first planted! It reminds me about the importance of talking to our children (or the children in our lives for those who don't have kids of their own) and keeping those conversations flowing as the years pass. My sons are 18 and 14 years old, and I find their views and opinions the most fascinating of anyone I know. They also entertain me...which is a nice side benefit to being a parent. What I love about your story is how we all benefited from the wonderful magic that happened with you and your son! "This Is Not A Werewolf Story" is such a tremendous tribute to that. Thank you for having the courage and tenacity to write this book and share it with all of us. You book is one of the very few books that I've read twice....
Thank you so much for your kind and encouraging words. And it's the same for you as for me-- talking to the young people in my life is a daily source of joy and inspiration. I'm lucky to work in a field where I get to see firsthand what a thoughtful and intelligent generation of kids this is. Thank goodness, right?
You are right Sandra...thoughtful and intelligent are good attributes to ascribe to the next generation. I immediately caught the significance when you said "thank goodness" as that is an expression of relief...that we as parents got at least a few things right. For me, another "thank goodness" comes to mind...related to the thoughtfulness and intelligence of our kids...because I know that those are the exact characteristics that will be required for them as they face the world we will ultimately hand to them...to place this fragile but wonderful planet into their care. We did pretty good...but I think they can do even more...I think they will come closer to being the kind of citizens that we all want to be deep done inside...
I know! I agree entirely. This generation inspires me.
