That is exactly why I so enjoy your work. Your characters are real *because* they are ordinary people that make extraordinary decisions. They are like us and when faced with incredible circumstances, they make the decisions we all hope we would have the courage to make in that same situation.
To be honest, being hard on the characters not only makes it fun but realistic - I don't know of many authors that are able to communicate a real sense of danger - tangible danger that makes the writing "consequential".
Mrs. Berg - the way you wrote about Seyonne helped me fight through the darkest time of my life. I don't know if I have ever rooted for any one character in my whole life, before or after or who has helped me become a better, more compassionate person. Your worldbuilding, characters, myths, interactinos, details - you as the author were completely transparent and the only thing I saw was a cinematic story before my eyes. This fantasy realism has influenced me so much that at times I feel a desire to turn my hand to writing not merely because writing is fun, but because of the puppet/cardboard interactions and shallow motivations in current fantasy nauseates me.
Martin! After a long absence I visited here to day and found this comment. There are no words that can convey how meaningful this is to me. No author could ask for more. Thank you.
