I travelled in Europe twice with q friend, but didn't fear to split up to go our separate ways from time to time. Amazing. I felt freer there than at home in the USA! Gorilla tracking doesn't appeal to me anyway...I've had lots of courage getting round the US. And, all the while, with a raging case of agoraphobia. Never gave into it, even when I was terrified, because I don't like fear to stifle my curiosity. You know, that little trait writers are cursed with. Thanks for your answer. Be well. Your kids are worth the pull-back from adventure for a bit.
You're right about being braver when you're young and unattached. I had loads of nerve when I was 22. I also had agoraphobia, which I eventually got rid of with the help of a great therapist. It really cramped my style, but it's amazing how much I traveled, even alone, with such a condition. But I finally had to work it out with blood, sweat and tears. Congrats on your latest novel. I have yet to read THE ORACLE, but soon...and you have another book out! Wonderful. Hope your adorable family and you are well and everything is fine.--S.
