Monica: Shout out from one of your former Creative Writing students (when you took a last-minute assignment to teach a CW class at PCC Sylvania). As someone who doesn't believe that writer's block really exists- that it's more of an excuse for idleness, than anything else- I totally agree with your "crisis-of faith" comments. I never have trouble thinking of something to write- though it may be laden with tripe- but what stops me cold is doubts about the value of what I'm writing. On another subject, I wanted you to know that I've included you in the "acknowledgements" portion of a memoir I just self-published on Amazon. It's called "The Book of Dan: Serving Across the 34th Parallel." I carry with me lessons I learned from your class, and wish you well. BTW, Clown Girl is a good book and a great example of how to tell a compelling, involving story.
