Please Please Please if you do maintain the reins of the plot and storyline. There is nothing worse than an author relinquishing the reins and having the director and producer mess everything up.
Please don't. Of all the movies and TV shows I've seen recently, all have felt lacking. Game of Thrones has completely gone down the drain. The Hunger Games movie wasn't worth watching. Mostly what I don't like is, when a person plays a character, the character somehow changes from how I'd envisioned him/her first, when I'd read the books. The places, the setting, everything ends up different. Look at Eragon. That's why I'd rather not have a movie/TV show of any of your books. I love them as they are, and don't want them to change. I can give you a dozen more examples of movies gone wrong, but only a few of those done right. And that's the gist of it...
Your books have so much more apart from the story. The worldbuilding, the magic system, all the side plots, reminiscences, all of these have multifarious aspects that cannot be covered in a movie. Consider Harry Potter. Realize how incomplete the movies are. That's isn't something I want happening to your books. The Way of Kings alone would need 10 movies made, and still not cover all its aspects. Your books are beautiful works of art as they are, works of art. I'd rather not have them scarred...
If it ever does happen, I vote they make each book in the Stormlight Archive a season, and each tiny story arc (1-3 chapters) into an episode. Though I also agree with above commenters...it's hard seeing something you love getting made into something different.
I hope this will not happen. Stormlight archive is to me as wheel of time was to you. Cant imagine having my favorite book(s) butchered up :'(.
Could the stormlight archive be an anime? It probably wouldn`t happen, considering it is not a manga, but I think it would be easier to make than a tv series.
I could imagine Mistborn as an anime though... The fight scenes would be gorgeous. Maybe ask Shinichiro Watanabe sensei to take a look? However, there is a very high possibility that the producer would not be able to capture all the subtle nuances of the story: society, religion, economy, politics, biology, and the relationships between people, and it would simply end up a rushed series of gorgeous fight sequences with zero characterisation, and anything of substance thrown out the window. Then it wouldn't remain Mistborn anymore. The last time I've seen some extremely good characterisation in an anime was Monster...
And till then, the GraphicAudio productions serve as awesome movies. If you still haven't checked them out, take a look. GraphicAudio just released the final part of Mistborn: The Hero of Ages (Part 3 of 3) on April 1. And boy oh boy, I liked the GraphicAudio "movie" of Mistborn than any Harry Potter or LOTR movie and it doesn't even skip a single dialogue!
So Brandon, when is GraphicAudio making The Way of Kings? They'll probably have to make 5-6 parts for the first book alone. The folks over at GraphicAudio don't like half-measures...
I think the anime would be a better way to adapt the Cosmere. Or at least, Warbreaker undoubtedly only works well if it is adapted to the anime. I can not imagine a live action using color in that way.
If there were better words for absolutely mind-blowing, awesome, and just genius, I would use them! Your beautiful and adventures books are literally what this world needs...it would be awesome if you made them movies/shows (please do haha)! However (hopefully this comes out right), if there's a risk that Hollywood is gonna screw up your beyond amazing work, don't risk it...you and your books are waaaay beyond good enough and are the inspiration. They are my inspiration!!!!
